About OHAStrengthening Local Communities Since 1938, Oregon's housing authorities have been serving Oregon's communities. Our members currently provide affordable housing options for more than 45,000 households throughout Oregon. We manage public housing and also transfer millions of dollars in federal rent assistance into local communities. Our partnerships with local non-profits and private sector businesses help build and preserve affordable housing that is vital to enhancing the livability of our communities. Simply put, we meet the housing needs not being met by the private marketplace.
Improving Lives OHA thinks of a house as an opportunity for a person or family to find success and dignity. A home provides stability so people can succeed in today's workforce; get an education or obtain job training; or successfully treat mental illness, alcohol or drug abuse.
We make a difference in the lives of Oregonians by providing a warm, safe home for families, children and the elderly; building a group home for persons with mental illness; delivering quality multi-family housing through public/private partnerships; offering home-ownership opportunities to low income Oregonians; giving children access to Head Start facilities and much, much more.
